18 Apr Fishing report April 18 2016
How is a low of 48 degrees on April 18th for you? It’s been a strange spring so far for sure! The high winds and cool temps have brought the water temperature down to 62-64 degrees which seems to have pushed most of the reds I’ve found out of skinny water into 2-3 feet, so sight fishing has been a bit of a challenge. They are still tailing on the flood tides which makes up for it. The fish are still eating, we just have to soak bait or comb the bottom with artificials to get them caught. The forecast for this week is looking good though, less wind with lows in the mid 60’s and highs in the mid 80’s. That should be enough to get the water temp up and most of the week is going to be sunny, so it’s looking good to do some scouting for cobia on the surface. I’ll keep you posted!
